Even Purpose Needs a Blueprint

Even Purpose Needs a Blueprint

You’ve heard it often enough:

‘I just need to find that one thing that is my purpose, then I’ll find direction for my life’

Most people are obsessed about the WHAT.

‘Tell me May, can you see from my chart, what is my purpose, WHAT should I spend my life doing?’

The problem is that they’re asking the wrong question.

‘What’ never delivers a strong sense of purpose.

It’s the WHO you serve that tells you that you’re doing good in the world.

Ask any chef.

It’s not the cooking that is satisfying.

It’s knowing that there are people whose bellies are filled with your cooking that makes you feel fulfilled.

Instead of asking ‘WHAT is my purpose?’

Ask ‘WHO is my purpose?’

When you know FOR WHOM you wish to make a difference to in the world, you then work backwards to find ways to being benefit to them, solve their problems, improve their lot.

So then, most people change the question and ask:

Tell me May, can you see from my chart, WHO should I be serving for my purposeful life?’

The astrological chart can indeed answer that question.

Some astrological houses inform us how you wish to engage other people, be it one-on-one, or in groups, or as a top-down authority.

Specific astrology houses break down the difference between the audience that clicks on your IG videos vs the people who want to sign up with you for coaching, services, consultations.

You can build a very specific audience and customer profile with an astrology chart – these are the people you feel most joy serving, and the people who want you the most.

Smart business owners will narrow their services to serve these people specifically.

But sometimes you can feel your WHO on your own, even without an astrologer helping you.

Sometimes you see glimpses of it.

Maybe your heart aches every time you see an elderly person suffer illness or pains as a result of a lifetime of work and neglect of their own physical wellness.

You know it bothers you, and you want to do something about it.

But you sit on it for years, because you don’t know how you can make a difference.

You’re not a doctor. You’re not a nutritionist. You’re not ‘government’. Can help meh?

If you understand this difficulty, then you know what I mean when I say:

Even purpose needs a blueprint.

The astrology chart can differentiate Function from Work.

What outcomes do you produce in society? Is it peace of mind? Solving logistical hassle? Translating medical info from English to Hokkien? Or providing nutritious food?

This is Function. Why do you exist in society?

And if you combine Function with your WHO, you get the basis of the service or business you provide.

Work is even more pragmatic. The astrology chart can show what Work you actually carry out.

Even if your Function is translation of medical information, for some people ‘Work’ is building a mobile app.

For others, with the same Function and WHO, Work can be providing a network of helpers who translate medical information at polyclinics or elderly care centres.

For yet others with the same Function and WHO, Work can be providing translation services directly to health clinics and pharmacies.

Work is what you do exactly when you ‘report’ for work.

When you have the WHO, and your Function, and your Work from your astrology chart… you can begin planning for a purposeful lifelong career.

It’s not true that people just sit around and somehow ‘discover’ their purpose.

Even if you know what it is, the blueprint is not so easy to develop.

Not just for employees who have never done this in their life.

Sometimes, even the seasoned self-employed lose their direction along the way.

Every purpose needs a blueprint.

If you don’t have one yet, get clear on yours.

If you have been following it for years, but are starting to feel misaligned, it’s time for a review.

At the end of 2025, as we move into 2026:

The conventional ways no longer serve modern careers. Like it or not, everyone must chart their own path.

It strikes me how few resources are available to help people navigate this important pillar of life. And I mean resources that are SPECIFIC and UNIQUE to you. Not a government template or framework you copy and paste.

Purpose has to mean something specific to you, else it’s just another lame job you do for money.

If you’re seriously planning for a change or alignment in 2026, consider getting a full astrology profile done.

Start 2026 with clarity and actionable plans.

Happy holidays and all the best for 2026.
